Dear Friends:

Have you recently found yourself longing for an opportunity to rest, to reconnect with family, to reflect on God’s Word, and to renew your relationship with God? If so, Cynthia and I would like to invite you and your family to step away from your busy lives and join us and others in the Insight for Living family on a relaxing and inspirational Alaskan cruise.

Our journey together will allow us to view some of God’s most breathtaking artwork: towering mountains, pristine lakes, and magnificent glaciers―I often think of them as immense ice sculptures shaped by divine hands. We’ll enjoy the exquisite accommodations, gourmet cuisine, and five-star guest services provided by the professional staff of the luxury liner MS Westerdam. And, as we travel together, we’ll share laughter and special moments over sumptuous meals and create new memories as we visit fascinating and beautiful places such as Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Victoria, British Columbia.

Throughout the cruise I’ll be bringing practical messages of truth and encouragement from God’s Word. Paul Magyar, our senior associate pastor of worship and music at Stonebriar Community Church, will lead us in inspiring times of praise and worship. Our other planned entertainment includes singer-songwriter Sara Groves; singer-songwriter, guitarist, and one of Nashville’s finest harmonica stylists Buddy Greene; two multi-talented Steinway pianists Nielson & Young; and a truly remarkable ventriloquist David Pendleton with his cast of friends. David Carder, pastor of counseling ministries at the First Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton, California, will join us to provide pastoral care and singles fellowship. Jason Stevenson, team leader of teen ministries, will minister to all the youth. And Dave Carl, whose creativity has been the driving force behind our Paws & Tales children’s ministry for nearly a decade, will provide laughter, entertainment and learning for your kids. Once he starts weaving his stories with truth and fun, I guarantee your kids won’t see the Bible as a boring old book!

Please take a moment to peruse this brochure for more detailed descriptions of the places we’ll visit on our 2008 Alaskan Cruise. Your adventure awaits!

Anticipating great things ahead,

Chuck and CynthiaSIG

Day at sea (July 7)

Cruising Glacier Bay National Park (July 8, 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.) This is truly a high point of your voyage — cruising Glacier Bay. You sail quietly over still waters and watch as massive slabs of ice break off the glacial walls and thunder into the bay. Look for wildlife sharing the serenity of this beautiful bay: whales, otters, seals, eagles, and a large variety of marine birds. An onboard naturalist is there to answer all of your questions.

Juneau (July 9, 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.)Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Visit the rustic shops in town. Or get out and kayak, dogsled, raft, bike, hike, heli-hike, flightsee, or fish. There’s no end to the adventure because we’re in port long enough to truly take advantage of the long daylight hours.

Sitka (July 10, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)Sitka is blessed with abundant marine wildife. Get out on the water aboard a dayboat or kayak, and you’ll pass seal haul-outs and seabird rookeries filled with nature’s sights and sounds.

Ketchikan (July 11, 7:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.)Built out over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of Tongass Narrows. Visit Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park, and the Saxman Village. There are numerous galleries exhibiting Native art and works by talented local artisans.    A floatplane flightseeing trip to breathtaking Misty Fjords National Monument is a transforming adventure not to be missed.

Victoria, B.C., Canada (July 12, 6:00 p.m.–Midnight)Stroll through the charming downtown of this very British city, with its double-decker buses, turreted castles, fine British woolens, tea, and china. Or just outside the city, visit the lush flora and fauna of Butchart Gardens.
