I am thrilled to announce the first annual Mark Schultz
Come Alive Alaska Family Cruise that will be setting sail this summer to beautiful Alaska, July 31–August 7, 2010. The week-long cruise will be leaving from Seattle, Washington and making stops in Juneau,

Sitka and Ketchikan, Alaska as well as Victoria, Canada. I’ve wanted to do this cruise for a long time, and I’m excited to spend time with friends and family, all while traveling to one of the most awe-inspiring destinations in the world.

I’m so glad to be partnering with Holland America Cruise Line because they are one of the premier cruises in the world. The ms Rotterdam ship is elegant with lots of diverse activities. (Also, my dad, who is a cruise aficionado, gives it two thumbs up and wants to take this opportunity to challenge all of you out there to a free-throw shooting contest on the ship’s deck).

It is an honor to have great friends who will accompany me on this journey to Alaska. One of my alltime favorite artists and friends, Joy Williams, will join me, to share her music. It’s also exciting to have one of Christian Music’s most celebrated singer/songwriters, Bebo Norman, join us as well. Anyone who has ever met Bebo or Joy knows that they are as wonderful and personable off the stage as they are on it. And, you will definitely want to come ready to laugh as Bone Hampton, an extremely talented comedian, will have you doubled over in your seat.

Finally, I am overjoyed that my dear friends and mentors, Mark and Susan DeVries, will be joining us from First Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN. Mark has been my pastor, friend and spiritual guide for years (yes, he’s the one I always talk about in my concerts and on my DVD). Mark and Susan are inspirational speakers and have written several books on family and relationships. They will be leading discussions and challenging you to go further in your faith and relationships. Spending time with them will change your life, just as it has mine.

And if these aren’t enough reasons to entice you, just remember the midnight all-you-can-eat buffet and 24-hour frozen yogurt machine. You’ll find me there most nights. Well, probably every night.

Two years ago I had a concert in Alaska and I was overwhelmed by its beauty and majesty as I watched the whales jumping alongside the blue glaciers. I immediately wanted to go back and share the experience with more people. I look forward to you joining me and my family and friends, for a trip of a lifetime. I hope your spirit will be renewed and your soul revived by this journey.

See you this summer!

DEPARTING FROM SEATTLE, WA (Saturday, July 31, 2010)
EMBARKATION: 11:30 A.M.–2:30 P.M. DEPART: 4:00 P.M.

DAY AT SEA (July 12)

JUNEAU (August 2, Noon–9:00 p.m.): Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Visit rustic shops in town, or get out and kayak, dogsled, raft, bike, hike, heli-hike, flightsee, and fish. We’ll be in port long enough to truly take advantage of the long daylight hours, so have an adventure!

HUBBARD GLACIER SCENIC CRUISING (August 3, 1:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.): Come face to face with a gigantic wall of ice that fills your view and extends for miles in either direction. It’s a titan on the move, advancing faster than almost any other glacier on the continent. When it reaches saltwater at Disenchantment Bay, the imposing architecture of this behemoth measures five miles in width and 40 stories in height, dwarfing even the largest ships. As you glide along this sparkling blue marvel, watch for seals basking on ice floes, listen for the loud, deep rumble and wait for the mighty crack and thunderous crash. At any moment, you could be witness to an eternal drama as nature’s hand sculpts icebergs before your wondering eyes.

SITKA (August 4, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.): Sitka is blessed with abundant marine wildife. Get out on the water aboard a dayboat or kayak, and you’ll pass seal haul-outs and seabird rookeries filled with nature’s sights and sounds.

KETCHIKAN (August 5, 7:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.): Built out over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of Tongass Narrows. Visit Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park, and the Saxman Village. There are numerous galleries exhibiting Native art and works by talented local artisans. A floatplane flightseeing trip to breathtaking Misty Fjords National Monument is a transforming adventure not to be missed.

VICTORIA, B.C., CANADA (August 6, 6:00 p.m.–Midnight): Stroll through the charming downtown of this very British city, with its double-decker buses, turreted castles, fine British woolens, tea, and china. Or just outside the city, visit the lush flora and fauna of Butchart Gardens.
